Togo striker setting the Premier League alight with Tottenham

Les Ferdinand has backed Emmanuel Adebayor to establish himself at Tottenham with the help of Harry Redknapp. Adebayor, 27, is approaching his peak years and has already shown signs that he is ready to elevate his game to a new level of excellence. The Togo-born marksman spent three years at Arsenal where his ability to spearhead the attack brought him to the attention of Manchester City who prised him away for £25million in 2009.

Marginalised

Adebayor, however, found himself marginalised when Roberto Mancini took over from Mark Hughes as manager and was loaned to Real Madrid last season, but a permanent deal failed to materialise. Redknapp recognised his talents and bolstered his forward line with his signing on a one-year loan, and Ferdinand, who is on the coaching staff at Spurs, believes he can make a real impact after his three goals this term. "His contribution has been fantastic since he came here and most people would agree he is a fantastic centre-forward," Ferdinand told skysports.com.
Nomad
"His situation reminds of the time when Robbie Keane signed for us and he was a bit of a nomad at the time and had a bit of a reputation like Adebayor." He added: "He's been at Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid - during that spell at Madrid he showed everyone what a top player he is, but more importantly, I think it calmed him down a bit. "Harry is the perfect manager for him and will know how to get the best out of him. The challenge is to keep him motivated and if we do that, then we have a player whose best is still yet to come. That is an exciting prospect."
