David Dunn has returned to Blackburn as the club's under-21 assistant coach.
The 36-year-old, who was sacked as Oldham manager last month after four months in charge, is a fans' favourite at Ewood Park having played 377 times for Rovers during two spells.
Dunn will now work alongside Damien Johnson, a former team-mate at both Blackburn and Birmingham.
The former midfielder told the Sky Bet Championship club's official website: "I'm delighted to be back. I don't have to say how much this club means to me. I think everyone knows what Blackburn Rovers means to me personally.
"So I'm just really looking forward to coming in and helping Damien.
"We have a good relationship anyway, so that should be fine and obviously I'm looking forward to learning from the manager (Paul Lambert), as well as Alan (Irvine) and Rob (Kelly), who are some of the best coaches around."
