Hughes praise for Kuqi

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes praised Shefki Kuqi's two-goal performance.

Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes praised Shefki Kuqi for his two-goal performance against West Bromwich Albion.

The Finland international replaced the injured Craig Bellamy on 14 minutes before finding the scoresheet in the final ten minutes to claim Blackburn's second straight win of the season.

Hughes was pleased the former Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town man could register his goalscoring account for the season against The Baggies.

"I am really pleased for Shefki," Hughes said. "It always important as a forward you get off the mark.

"He made a real impact. He showed real desire to affect the game. He is a guy who works extremely hard.

"Whatever success he has, he fully deserves. He is a great professional, who wants to succeed at this level.

"These two goals will only help him in that respect."

The former Wales manager was delighted his side could build on last Saturday's excellent win at Manchester United with their dominant second half display.

"There was lot more drive in our game in the second half and a lot of positive play," he added.

"In the first half, we were a little bit slow coming out the blocks.

"The injury to Craig possibly affected us more than it should have done, and we didn't really get going.

"I will speak to our medical guys about Craig. He just felt discomfort in his knee and had to come off."
