Robbie Savage taunted Birmingham after helping guide Blackburn to a 2-0 win over his former club.Savage left St Andrews under something of a cloud last season after falling out with manager Steve Bruce.
He was jeered relentlessly by Blues fans during the game on Saturday but had the last laugh as goals from Paul Dickov and Craig Bellamy handed Rovers all three points.
After the game Savage did little to improve relations with the Midlanders by insisting he was now playing for a bigger club.
"David Gold (Birmingham chairman) said when I came here I was coming to a smaller club," he told PremPlus.
"But I think we've proved otherwise today because we are eight points clear of them now.
"Even though I got a bit of stick today I have fond memories of Birmingham. I hope they survive because there are a lot of nice people there."
Of the game, he added: "We had two teams working very hard today. Emile (Heskey) did a fantastic job for Birmingham but we knew if we could cancel out the threat of the long-ball game we could win - and the back four were fantastic.
"Then Craig Bellamy came on, he had one chance and that's what you pay £6 million for.
"I was nervous before the game but to win today - the week of my birthday - is great."
