Rovers starlet honoured to be mentioned in same breath as Blues ace

Phil Jones is flattered to have been compared to his defensive idol, Chelsea's John Terry. The Blackburn starlet made his senior bow on Sunday, helping Rovers to hold Terry and co to a 1-1 draw at Ewood Park. The 18-year-old has received glowing reviews in the aftermath of an assured display against some of the most lethal attacking talent in the Premier League. Many are already tipping him for the top, with Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce of the opinion that the youngster is set for a bright future in the game. Jones admits the last few days have been a bit of a blur, but is delighted to have tested himself against one of the top teams in the country and insists he will take all the accolades which have come his way in his stride.

Comparisons

"It's unreal at the moment," he said. "As a footballer you hope to play in games like this and I have done. "John Terry is definitely someone I idolise and someone I have looked up to. "Any comparisons are a compliment but I'll take it in my stride. "I don't see it as putting pressure on me. But being compared to people like him is massive."
