Defender to remain with Rovers until 2015
Chris Samba has ended any uncertainty surrounding his future by penning a contract extension at Blackburn.
The defender looked to be on his way out of Ewood Park earlier in the season after expressing his frustration at the way Sam Allardyce's departure from the club was handled.
He admitted to being keen to move on after growing disillusioned with the course the club were taking under owners Venky's.
Steve Kean has been able to talk Samba round, though, proving to him that the outlook for the future is brighter than it first appeared.
The combative centre-half is now prepared to play a leading role for Rovers heading forward and has committed himself to fresh terms that will run until the summer of 2015.
Upon securing Samba's signature, Kean told the club's
official website: "This is more great news for us.
Exciting times
"Chris is a major part of the picture at Rovers and his form has created a lot of interest from around the football world.
"The fact that he wants to be part of what we are trying to build here is further evidence of the exciting times that lie ahead."
Samba, who has followed in the footsteps of Ryan Nelsen, Michel Salgado and Jason Roberts in agreeing a new deal, added: "It is a good feeling. We have been in discussions for a little time and I needed a couple of answers.
"But the way we have played and the players the manager has brought in means we are not far off being a top club in the league.
"I'm in a period of my career where I need to make important choices.
"I've made the choice to take the challenge to try and take the club as high as possible, to maintain that position and to be recognised as one of the top clubs in the country."
