Philippe Senderos has joined Grasshoppers on a six-month deal after leaving Aston Villa earlier this week.

The former Arsenal, Everton and Fulham defender, whose contract was cancelled by mutual consent by Villa, has returned home to Switzerland in a bid to revive his career and international selection chances ahead of the European Championships this summer.

Senderos played just nine matches for Villa after injuries hampered his career since joining the club from Valencia on a free transfer in July 2014.
