O'Neill tables bid for Newcastle winger
Skysports.com understands Aston Villa have tabled an offer for Newcastle winger James Milner.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill is keen to lure the England Under 21 international away from St James' Park and has now firmed up his interest with a big-money offer.
O'Neill is a fan of Milner and has been keen to sign him on a permanent basis since the winger spent a successful spell on loan at Villa Park in the 2005-06 season.
Milner has established himself as a key player at Newcastle since returning to St James' Park, with the former Leeds man putting in a number of impressive performances.
Magpies boss Kevin Keegan does not want to sell, but it is believed he could be forced to reluctantly cash-in if he wants to bring in any new players as he been warned he will have to sell before he can buy again.
Milner is thought to be interested in a possible switch to the Midlands having seen talks over a new contract at St James' Park ended by the club's hierarchy.
Villa are now waiting to see if their bid is accepted by Newcastle as they look to continue their recent spending in the transfer market.
