Merse previews the Super Sunday double header

As the season reaches a thrilling climax, Sky Sports bring you two more big Premier League games on Super Sunday. From 1pm we head to the DW Stadium where Arsenal will try to keep their title hopes alive against a Wigan team desperate for three points to edge away from the relegation trapdoor. And from 3.30pm we'll bring you coverage from Fratton Park where FA Cup finalists Portsmouth host an Aston Villa side in the hunt for European football. Sky Sports expert Paul Merson gives you his views ahead of both games...

Wigan v Arsenal
1pm, Sun, Sky Sports HD1 & Sky Sports 1

Arsenal can't win the title now, but Chelsea can throw it away. They'll be disappointed after losing to Tottenham but they'll go out on Sunday and play the only way they know how. They'll keep the ball... even if they won't look like scoring for weeks and weeks. They had all of the possession in the first half against Tottenham, but they didn't look like scoring until Robin van Persie came on. They've been so unlucky with injuries and if he'd been fit it could have been so different. Manchester United have struggled when just one star player has been injured. Arsenal had to play Barcelona and Tottenham without Van Persie, Cesc Fabregas, William Gallas, Andrey Arshavin, Alex Song... and then Thomas Vermaelen hobbled off as well. So they've been unlucky with injuries, but I still feel they're a long way behind Chelsea and Man United. If push comes to shove, the others can find a little bit extra - especially Chelsea. A 38-game season is all about a squad and the players you can bring in. I think this is still a big game for Arsenal because they want to finish second. If you don't win anything (and Arsenal Football Club should be winning things) then you at least want to be able to say you've improved. So I don't think it's time to be throwing in the youngsters or anything like that. The best time to do that is when you're winning every week and when your best players are available. Then they can carry the youngsters through. This title race isn't mathematically over and the game is live on telly, so this is no time to be mugging it off and losing to Wigan. Plus I was always told, even when I played in reserve games, that somebody might be watching you for the first time ever. You always need to try your hardest for that person. Wigan won't mess around because they need the points. They're lucky that the teams below them are so bad because they're a poor team. If Hull had beaten Burnley last week I think they'd have been in a spot of bother. They usually try and play football without good footballers, so they're always going to struggle. I'm sure Roberto Martinez will want to match his wits against Arsene Wenger, but I'm not sure he'll be able to get anything against a good Arsenal side. PAUL'S PREDICTION
AWAY WIN - If Arsenal put their strongest team out then you should start putting some more lightbulbs in the scoreboard. If Van Persie plays then I think Arsenal will win at least 3-0 or 4-0.
MERSON'S MAGIC MAN
ROBIN VAN PERSIE - For me, he's in the top five or six strikers in the world. Just look at the difference when he came on against Tottenham, he was a different class. If he plays then it will be a totally different story for the Wigan defenders.

Portsmouth v Aston Villa
3.30pm, Sun, Sky Sports HD1 & Sky Sports 1

I'll be covering this game for Sky Sports on Sunday and as two of my former clubs, I have a lot of time for Portsmouth and Aston Villa. Villa are a massive club and I always tell people that. I hope Martin O'Neill stays because there aren't many bigger teams in the Premier League. And as for Portsmouth, the fans are just unbelievable; they're like nothing else I've ever played in front of. I was so pleased for the supporters that they got to the FA Cup Final and the fact they got a draw against Wigan in midweek speaks volumes for the manager. He is able to get something out of these players and they deserve some credit too. It's getting to the stage where they'll be resting players before the FA Cup Final and sooner or later they will get a good hiding. Wigan had enough chances to beat them in midweek, but it could get a bit Lionel if a team like Villa score early. Villa have thrown themselves out of the race for fourth. They had nice fixtures at home to Wolves and Sunderland and it was all set up for them to get into fourth place. They'll be disappointed to have gotten so far and yet again it didn't happen. Villa have to work very hard every week and it catches up with you in the end. They can beat anybody on their day, but I think the season has caught up with them. It's a shame really. They've had no luck in their games at Wembley. Nemanja Vidic should have been sent off in the Carling Cup Final and they had a stonewall penalty at 0-0 against Chelsea in the FA Cup. Villa's season could have been so different if those things had gone their way. I do think fourth is beyond them now. They'd have half a chance of chasing one team down, but I can't see both Spurs and Man City letting them back into it. PAUL'S PREDICTION
AWAY WIN - Villa only know how to play one way and they always have a go. Portsmouth might as well open the game up in front of their fans because if they lose it doesn't make one iota of a difference. It should be a really good game and I'm going for 3-2 to Villa. I'd be majorly, majorly shocked if this game ends up 0-0. MERSON'S MAGIC MAN
JAMES MILNER - He's been outstanding this season and is the driving force for the Villa side. If he can keep driving them forward on Sunday then I think they'll win the game. And I reckon it's going to be a thriller.
