Villa manager set to bring in new coach

Gerard Houllier has revealed that he is in talks with Robert Duverne about adding the fitness coach to his backroom team at Villa Park. Houllier has been appointed Aston Villa manager after resigning from his role with the French Football Federation and will officially take up the post after this weekend's game against Bolton. There has already been plenty of speculation about who he will look to bring in as part of his coaching staff, with Kevin MacDonald and Phil Thompson ruling themselves out of the running to be assistant manager. But it seems Duverne could be one man poised to link up with Villa after being approached by Houllier. Duverne hit the news over the summer after clashing with Patrice Evra during France's shambolic World Cup campaign. Earlier this week he quit his role with newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Arles-Avignon so would be available to work with Houllier. "He is competent, and we are in contact," the new Villa boss confirmed on Canal+.
