Midfielder reflects on his dream bow for Villa
Jonathan Hogg admits he 'loved every minute' of his Aston Villa debut against Manchester United.
The 21-year-old was a surprise inclusion for Saturday's home date with the Red Devils, but fared admirably on his top flight bow.
He was given his chance to shine as Gerard Houllier has seen his midfield options decimated by injury.
With Ciaran Clark, Stiliyan Petrov, Nigel Reo-Coker and Steve Sidwell all out, Hogg was drafted in to help provide cover.
He was unfazed by the prospect of facing established internationals such as Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher and insists he revelled in the sense of occasion.
Hogg told
AVTV: "It was brilliant. Not many people can say they made their debut against Manchester United.
"I absolutely loved it. It's the first time I have achieved this and hopefully there are many more games to come.
Tremendous
"I can't wait until the next match now. I wish there was one on Wednesday.
"I went out there and all the fans were singing. It was tremendous. The fans were unbelievable.
"It was perfect for me as Manchester United are full of energy. I was getting around the pitch and loving every minute of it."
Hogg's big day almost provided a dream outcome, with Villa taking a 2-0 lead before United hauled themselves level late on.
The youngster has no complaints with the result, though, and believes Houllier would have taken a point prior to kick-off.
He said: "At the start of the game we would have been happy with a point.
"We were a bit disappointed we did just get the one as we were winning 2-0 and then they scored two late goals. But we are happy with a point at the end of the day."
