Transfer talks subject to Lyon midfielder's consent
Cameroon midfielder Jean Makoun is deciding whether he wants to join Aston Villa, according to Lyon.
Gerard Houllier met Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas for talks on Wednesday as the Villa boss bids to complete a reported £6million deal.
Discussions are ongoing, but Lyon are willing to negotiate about the bit-part player and are now waiting for Makoun's consent.
"The progress of the talks are still subject to the player's agreement," the French club said in a statement on their official website.
Makoun joined Lyon from Lille in 2008 when the former paid £11million for the now 27-year-old.
Houllier wants the defence-minded, 54-time international to bring some experience and responsibility to his young midfield.
Villa, who are in a Premier League relegation fight, are also chasing Blackpool's Charlie Adam.
