New Villa boss is relishing first home game this Saturday
Alex McLeish insists he is not worried about what kind of reception awaits him during his first home game as Aston Villa boss.
McLeish's decision to leave Birmingham in the summer and join arch-rivals Villa just five day later angered fans on both sides of the second city's footballing divide.
While McLeish was appointed in June, all five of Villa's pre-season games were away so Saturday's Premier League match against Blackburn will be the Scot's first in the home dug-out at Villa Park.
But the 52-year-old is not concerned about the fans' reaction, even if there is a repeat of the angry scenes that greeted his appointment.
Not intimidated
"It's something I have to confront," he told
Sky Sports News.
"I'm not scared of it, it's not intimidating me. I'm really looking forward to the day tomorrow.
"I can't wait for it to kick-off, to get down the track, in the dug-out and see a full stadium.
"I'm excited about the game, I almost feel as if I'm playing again. I'm looking forward to it with a lot of anticipation."
