Gooch out to impress

Oguchi Onyewu claims he has realised a dream by joining Newcastle.

Oguchi Onyewu claims he has realised a dream by joining Newcastle and is looking to repay the club by helping them achieve 'something special.'

The giant American defender secured a loan move to Newcastle from Standard Liege in January and is in line to make his debut against Fulham on Saturday.

Onyewu claims he always dreamed of winning a move to the Premiership and is determined to repay Newcastle for giving him his shot in England.

"To play in the Premier League was always an aspiration for myself and right now to be able to realise that dream is something special," he said on Sky Sports News.

"Apparently they have been keeping eyes on me for a while and thankfully I have been able to do enough to impress them and get a shot out here.

"Hopefully I won't let them down.

"With a club of this stature, the sky is the limit. I don't think you should put a limit on it.

"It is true we are not at the top of the table, but we are climbing and I think with the players we have got we can do something special."
