Pardew wants to resolve centre-back's contract uncertainty

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is determined to resolve the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of Steven Taylor. The centre-back is out of contract in the summer and it is not clear whether he is prepared to sign a new deal at St James' Park. Pardew has no such concerns regarding Gateshead-born Andy Carroll, despite reports that the star striker has been unsettled by last week's sacking of Chris Hughton. But Taylor, who was placed on the transfer list by Newcastle's previous regime in the summer, has been linked with Arsenal amid the lack of clarity over his commitment. Pardew said: "Andy has made it quite clear that he loves this city and he loves this club. "In terms of Steven, that's a little bit different because there's a contract situation that we need to make sure we resolve."
