Anelka seeking France berth

Nicolas Anelka believes that he will earn a recall to the French national side.

Nicolas Anelka believes that he will earn a recall to the French national side if he can continue to display his form in The Premiership.

The Manchester City star had a high profile bust-up with Jacques Santini, but new Les Bleus coach Raymond Domenech has agreed he would have no problem calling up the former Arsenal and Liverpool man.

Anelka appears to have finally settled at Manchester City after acrimonious spells at Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain - and is hopeful that he can now force his way back into the reckoning with his quality on the pitch.

"I have no trouble with coach Raymond Domenech," Anelka told television show Telefoot.

"He makes his own choices and we can't contest a coach's decisions.

"I have nothing more to say beyond the fact that I am back in contention.

"Now I have to prove myself with my club. I have to score goals but if they don't want to call me, it is not too serious."

Anelka's long-running feud with Santini arose when the striker turned down a late call-up after being left out of the original squad.

Although he publicly apologised to Santini for his reaction, Anelka was not included in France's ill-fated Euro 2004 squad, leaving him in international purgatory.
