Andy Cole insists that he has no problems playing against Teddy Sheringham. The former Manchester United pair have not spoken for seven years after they fell out during a game at Bolton, when Sheringham blamed Cole for a goal The Red Devils conceded.
Since then Cole has refused to speak to Sheringham, even though they went on to help United win the UEFA Champions League.
Despite their falling out, Cole insists he will not be thinking about their ongoing argument when City meet West Ham on Sunday - live on Sky Sports.
"We are all entitled to our opinion and sometimes your opinions on certain things don't change," said Cole.
"In football, you are not going to like everybody. That is just the way the game is.
"But we are grown men. I didn't like him so much that I didn't want to achieve anything with him.
"It is not about whether two individuals like each other. It is about achieving what you want and at Manchester United we did that, which is the most important thing."
Cole has settled into life well at Eastlands since his summer move from Fulham and he admits that he would like to prolong his stay beyond the end of the season.
"I want to carry on playing for another year or two and I would hope to do that at City," he said.
"I don't want to go bouncing from club to club for a year at a time, that is not really me.
"I have never gone around chasing people but if they came to me and asked me the question, I would be more than happy to say yes."
