Eriksson says call-up's too early for rising City star

Sven Goran Eriksson has praised Manchester City keeper Joe Hart, but believes it is too early for the youngster to win an England call-up. The former Shrewsbury keeper has cemented his place in City's team this season ahead of Sweden international Andreas Isaksson and Kasper Schmeichel. Hart was again in fine form as City blanked West Ham in the FA Cup at the weekend, although Eriksson is against the youngster being called up for England's clash with Switzerland next month. The game in Fabio Capello's first in charge of England and who will start in goal remains a keenly-contested debate with Paul Robinson, Scott Carson and David James all vying for the number one shirt.

Difficult decision

"It is very difficult decision because all three of them are very good," stated Eriksson. "I have always said Joe Hart will one day be picked for the national team. "However, it's not my job and I'm not saying he should be picked now because it's too early. "Other English goalkeepers have more experience then Joe. Joe played one game in the Premier League last season. "You see him in training and matches and he is good. The only question is: Is he good enough to do the job? "Mentally he is strong. He has two great feet and can make great saves."
