Zico has admitted he would like to work in England as reports from around the world continue to suggest he is in line to land the Manchester City job.
Whilst the British sources seem set on the fact that Mark Hughes is very much in line to take charge - both reports in Turkey and Brazil say Zico is ready to make the move to Eastlands.
Zico has impressed City owner Thaksin Shinawatra for the work he has done with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Brazilian Carlos Roberto - former Botafogo coach - is one of Shinawatra's closest confidents and it is believed he has recommended Zico to the City owner.
"I have known Thaksin and the executive director of City (Taweesuk Srisumri) for almost 20 years now, we worked towards the selection of Thailand's national coach on two occasions," confirmed Roberto.
Roberto admitted that he had spoken with Zico about the possibility of him moving to Manchester.
"I spoke with Zico and I asked him how about his situation in relation to Manchester City," he told Globe Esporte.
"The like him and are investigating. I said to them they must give an answer in the coming days. The chances of him taking over at the club are great."
English interest
Zico himself admitted he was tempted by the prospect of England.
"I would like to work in England," Zico told Sbs TV.
"I think it is a tantalising prospect.
"My career path is still in Europe. I thank Fenerbahce for giving me a chance and I think I have repaid their support with good work on the field.
"I do have some possibilities and I hope to resolve one as soon as possible. My problem with Fenerbahce is not money, but professional issues."
Spanish reports are also continuing to suggest that Barcelona star Ronaldinho could be City bound.
Shinawatra is ready to break the bank for Ronaldinho and although many have doubted his ability to lure him to Eastlands - the presence of Zico could make a huge difference.
Zico himself only recently confirmed how much of a fan of Ronaldinho he was.
"He is a comparatively young player, who can do anything you could ask with the ball at his feet. He just has to gain the mentality of a professional athlete," he said.
"I do not know what he does on a day-to-day basis and what his relationship with the club is like.
"All I know is that I am sad not to see him out there on the field. With Ronaldinho not playing, it is the fans of football who are missing out."
