Milan defender linked with Manchester City

AC Milan defender Thiago Silva is committed to life with the Rossoneri despite reportedly being linked with a summer move to Manchester City. Silva has been a huge hit in Milan, forming a strong defensive partnership alongside Alessandro Nesta which has since earned him a place in the Brazil World Cup squad. The former Porto player told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Me at Manchester City? Its nice to know there are coaches who appreciate your work and clubs willing to spend so much money to buy you, but I have other ideas for my future." The 25-year-old has declared that the Easlands club will have to look elsewhere as he plans to stay at the San Siro for many years to come. "I have a message for Milan," he declared. "I am ready to stay a Rossoneri until I am 40-years-old. I want to stay at Milan and I want to win."

Praise

The central defender also heaped praise on Milan's new coach Massimiliano Allegri after it was confirmed that the former Cagliari boss will take over the reins of the Serie A giants ahead of the new season. He said: "A friend of mine told me that he is a well prepared coach and his teams all play spectacular football. If there is a joy and desire to entertain, then Milan will work for him." In welcoming the new coach, Silva also admitted that he will miss former boss Leonardo. "I regret that Leonardo is no longer here," he said. "He did a fantastic job in his debut season as a coach and I didn't understand why he was let go."
