New Manchester City signing James Milner was pleased to make his debut as his side ran out 3-0 winners over Liverpool.
City were rarely troubled by the visitors at Eastlands, and Milner was on hand to set up the first goal, pulling the ball back for Gareth Barry to stroke home.
The midfielder crossed for Micah Richards to head towards goal for City's second, with Carlos Tevez getting the last touch, and Tevez scored the third from the penalty spot.
Milner denied that there was extra pressure on him to put in a debut performance, and was just pleased to get out there and make an impact.
When asked if he was nervous, the England international told
Sky Sports: "Not really - I was just eager to get out there and get on with the job in hand, and that's play football.
"Luckily I was selected. It's always tough against Liverpool - but we got three goals and a clean sheet.
"They didn't cause us too many problems in the first half, then they came out in the second half."
Progression
Owner Sheikh Mansour was in the City of Manchester Stadium to watch a City game for the first time, and Milner admitted the club are in a stage of progression.
"The club is moving forward, they've signed a lot of great players," he added.
"There is great competition which is healthy for any team so hopefully we can build on this.
"It's a great stadium, the fans are right behind us and it's great to be able to go out and play in front of that every week."
Meanwhile, defender Richards wants to claim the second goal despite Tevez being awarded with the strike, although he admits the Argentine had a great game.
"It's definitely mine, I am definitely claiming it," said Richards.
"He had a fantastic game and wanted to cap it off with a goal but he has got the penalty so I am having that."
On competition within the squad, he remarked: "The competition is very hard but tonight showed that we put in the work and got the right result."
