Dutch club lack the finances to make bid for striker

Feyenoord coach Mario Been has played down speculation the Dutch club could try to sign Wales striker Craig Bellamy. The Eredivisie strugglers were among a clutch of clubs to show an interest in signing Bellamy in the summer before the forward opted for a loan move to Cardiff City from Manchester City. Bellamy later revealed his admiration for Feyenoord and that has prompted talk the Rotterdammers could again try to bring the 31-year-old to De Kuip. However, Bellamy is still on a long-term contract at Man City and Been admits Feyenoord do not have the resources to pay a transfer fee for the player.

Unlikely

Been told Voetbal International: "The likelihood of us signing Bellamy is very small. "With his experience and track record, he would be very useful to us. But he is currently on loan at Cardiff and apparently has two years left on his Manchester City contract. "City would not let him go for nothing. If they do and Bellamy wants to come to play for us then we have a story. "But to my knowledge it is not an issue. Bellamy is unlikely to come to Feyenoord."
