Italian coach says skipper remains committed to club
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists that striker Carlos Tevez will remain at Eastlands and continue to flourish as the club moves forward.
The 26-year-old striker has been in excellent form this season but has looked a forlorn figure at times, reacting angrily when he was substituted against Bolton last weekend.
Tevez has admitted that he misses his family in Argentina, and has been quoted on a number occasions questioning his long-term commitment to European football and expressing his disillusionment with the modern game.
However, boss Mancini has no worries about his captain remaining at the club and the Italian has hailed his 'fantastic' ability.
He said: "We can talk about this situation and talk about Carlos every week. I have explained it 1,000 times.
"Carlos is a fantastic player. He is one of the most important players in Europe and maybe in the world.
"He will stay here for a long time because he has not told me otherwise."
Bans
Tevez has scored 10 goals in the Premier League so far this season but will miss the clash with former club West Ham on Saturday as he is currently suspended.
Defender Aleksander Kolarov is also banned for the trip to Upton Park but Mancini is confident other players will step up to the plate.
"Carlos and Kolarov are very important but the players who replace them can have a very good game," he added.
"If we continue to play like we did against Bolton and in the second half at Stoke (where City came away with a 1-1 draw) we can win without Carlos."
