City assistant manager says Red Devils are strong favourites

Manchester City assistant manager Brian Kidd has claimed that the title is 'Manchester United's to lose'. Kidd was part of title-winning outfits as Sir Alex Ferguson's No.2 at Old Trafford but is now working alongside Roberto Mancini to try and bring the crown to the blue half of Manchester. Both teams are in the hunt for top spot this term but it is United who hold the advantage at the turn of the year. The Red Devils only lead City by virtue of their superior goal difference but have two games in hand and are unbeaten so far in the Premier League. Kidd maintains that City have the strongest squad in the division, as they continue to be linked with big-money January signings including Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.

Preparation

However, he has put the pressure on United by saying Ferguson's men should finish as champions if they keep their heads. United traditionally improve during the second half of the season and Kidd recognises that it takes more than pure ability to collect the major prizes. "It's obviously Manchester United's to lose now," he said. "It is in their hands. You can't get away from that fact. "They have been round the block and know how to win league titles. "Their work is not done in January. Everyone gets kidded that they hit form about now but they start with their preparation in July and go on from that."
