Dutch midfielder wants to help restore Blues to former glories
Nigel de Jong has admitted he wants to end his career with Manchester City.
The 26-year-old moved to Eastlands from Hamburg in January 2009 and has gone on to establish himself in City's engine room.
The tough-tackling midfielder is one of the first names on the team-sheet having formed an effective partnership with Gareth Barry.
While City's title challenge is faltering, the big-spending Blues are on course to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
De Jong believes it could be the beginning of an exciting era for the club and is determined to be a part of it.
"I can't ever see myself leaving this club," he told the club's
official magazine.
"City have done so much for me as a player and a person over the last two years.
Long-term success
"Now the plan is to be successful for a long time to come."
De Jong's unselfish approach has allowed City's flair players to flourish further up the field.
The Holland international is yet to score in 83 appearances for the club but has almost broke his duck in recent weeks.
The former Ajax trainee missed a glorious late chance in the FA Cup draw at Leicester and saw a deflected shot hit a post in Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa.
"I am getting closer but to score a goal for City will be brilliant," he added.
"I haven't got a celebration planned, even though I've had plenty of time to think about it!"
