Rovers chief remains hopeful of landing January loanees

Steve Kean fears Blackburn Rovers could miss out on signing Roque Santa Cruz and Jermaine Jones permanently. The Blackburn manager has been trying to agree first-option on the January signings, who have joined until the end of the season. But Santa Cruz's parent club Manchester City have priced the Paraguayan striker out of a permanent switch to Ewood Park, as have Schalke in their midfielder Jones. Kean is concerned that higher bidders could come in for the Rovers duo if they impress in the remainder of the campaign. "We don't have any option," Kean told The Lancashire Telegraph: "We tried to fix a price for Roque and the same for Jermaine because we thought they would do well but we couldn't fix a price. "At the end of the season now I think they go back to their clubs and hopefully we have made a good impression and they want to come back to the club in whatever capacity. "Whether it is another loan or if we can do a deal with their clubs and bring them back permanently we will have to wait to see."
