Winger hopes to win new deal

Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has revealed his desire to stay at the club until the end of his career. Wright-Phillips' future has been the subject of conjecture for some time with the player linked with a move away from Eastlands during the January transfer window. It has also been suggested the 29-year-old could be deemed surplus to requirements this summer as Roberto Mancini looks to reshape his squad. However, the England international is refusing to give up on staying and is hoping he can earn a new long-term deal. "It feels like I am part of the furniture here," he told the club's official website. "I would love to retire a City player and I have my fingers crossed it is something that can still happen. "When I did leave in 2005, I broke down crying on the way to sign for Chelsea, but back then, we needed the money my sale brought in. "The fans didn't even turn their back on me then. They always give me a brilliant reception and I can't explain how good that feels.

Dream

City face local rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final next weekend and Wright-Phillips admits he would love to be part of the side that ends their long wait for a major trophy. "I want to fulfil a lifelong dream and help win a trophy for our fans," added Wright-Phillips. "I wouldn't just want to beat United and then lose in the final - we need to get to the final and win it. "If I could play even a small part of making that happen, I would be a happy man."
