City boss keen to keep hold of German defender
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has no concerns over reported interest from Bayern Munich in defender Jerome Boateng.
The Germany international joined City's ranks as one of the best defensive prospects in European football from Hamburg last summer.
However he has been blighted by niggling injuries since moving to England, making just 16 league appearances and failing to put together a consistent run in the first team.
Bayern are rumoured to have earmarked bringing the player back to the Bundesliga, but Mancini is adamant he wants to keep the 22-year-old at Eastlands and prove his potential.
Happy
"I am happy Bayern have said this because it proves we signed a big player," said Mancini.
"Jerome has had many problems this year, including three or four injuries.
"But he will be staying here. He is a big part of our future.
"If he doesn't have any problems next year, Jerome can be one of the best defenders in Europe."
