Spanish midfielder sets sights on title glory with City
Manchester City midfielder David Silva has revealed his biggest aim this season is to lift the Premier League trophy with the club.
The Spain international, who joined Roberto Mancini's side from Valencia last summer, helped City to FA Cup success on his debut campaign at the Premier League side.
Silva has now got a taste for silverware and the 25-year-old hopes City can build on their third-placed finish last term to secure their first top-flight domestic title since 1968.
Dream
"My big dream at this moment is to win the Premier League title with Manchester City," Silva told
EFE.
"We are a great squad and our level keeps improving. This season we (also) fight to do well in the Champions League."
It remains to be seen who will lead City's frontline this season, with Carlos Tevez widely expected to depart the club this summer, while fellow Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero has been heavily linked with a move to the Ethiad Stadium.
Silva says he has not been distracted by the ongoing transfer speculation, and admits he is in the dark over whether Tevez will still be plying his trade at City come the opening day of the campaign.
"Still there is not much news," added the attacking midfielder. "The subject of Tevez is complicated.
"If Aguero arrives or any other forward it's not a problem to me. My mission on the pitch is to help the attack and that is my work."
Tevez has previously voiced his unhappiness at living in Manchester, but Silva says he is feeling settled after a year in the city, although admits he is still adjusting to the weather.
"I have improved in the English language and that is excellent for communicating with my team-mates," he said.
"With Mancini there are no problems.
"The worse question is the weather in Manchester."
Sensational
He added: "To play in a foreign country is a challenge and a beautiful experience. For me this first season was sensational in all aspects."
Silva has travelled to the USA with City for their pre-season tour, but is currently sitting out their friendly matches as he bids to recover from a slight injury before the new season gets underway.
"I am training with the squad but I do not play the friendlies as a precaution," he said. "I need total recuperation to arrive perfect for the Premier League."
