Roberto Mancini has revealed that Sergio Aguero will start Sunday's Community Shield on the bench.
Argentine striker will be named among the subs against Man Utd
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed that big-money signing Sergio Aguero will start Sunday's Community Shield on the bench.
City have made the Argentine forward their record recruit, with £38million required to lure him away from Atletico Madrid.
Such a hefty price tag, coupled with a growing reputation, will see Aguero forced to handle considerable pressure this term.
Mancini is aware of that and is also reluctant to throw his new frontman into action too soon.
Aguero has been suffering with blisters of late, following a summer that has included Copa America duty, and for that reason he will only be named among the substitutes when City head to Wembley to face arch-rivals Manchester United this weekend.
Mancini said: "Sergio is okay, he will train today (Friday).
"He is not 100 per cent ready but he is fit to come on the bench."
Derby
Mancini is expected to pair Mario Balotelli and Eden Dzeko in attack against United, with want-away skipper Carlos Tevez not due to make his return to training until Monday.
Whatever side he finally settles upon, City's Italian coach is aware that the derby element of Sunday's encounter has given an extra edge to a game which has been treated as little more than a friendly in the past.
He said: "It is the first official match of the season.
"It is important because it is a derby and we want to win, like United.
"But I don't think the teams at the moment are 100 per cent ready to play."
