City star's potential return intensifies competition for places
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini admits he faces a selection dilemma up front this season, especially with Carlos Tevez back in contention.
It was thought the Argentinian star had played his last game for City when he handed in a transfer request this summer.
But a move has failed to materialise, with Tevez returning to training with City last week after being unsuccessfully pursued by his former club Corinthians.
Mancini already had an embarrassment of riches in attack, demonstrated by Monday's Premier League opener against Swansea.
Edin Dzeko and David Silva both scored in a thrilling 4-0 win while record signing Sergio Aguero made a stunning debut, coming off the bench to score twice as well as laying on Silva's goal.
Mario Balotelli could not even get a game as a substitute and with Mancini confirming that Tevez is now back in contention, the Italian may be struggling to even make the bench for Sunday's trip to Bolton.
Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri could also arrive before the transfer deadline so Mancini knows it won't be easy keeping all his attacking stars happy this term.
Difficult decisions
"Silva, Tevez, Aguero, Dzeko, Balotelli - it is difficult," said the Blues boss.
"I think probably during the games there will be some moments when we can try to put all these players on the pitch.
"But it is difficult and we have to have a good balance for the team.
"All these players are professionals and it is important that they are not happy when they don't play," he added.
"If there is a player who is happy when he doesn't play, this is not good. They must be ready."
Tevez in contention
Aguero was seen by many as a replacement for Tevez, who has also been linked with Inter Milan.
But it seems no further bids have been forthcoming for the 27-year-old, who could now partner his compatriot in the City attack this season.
Mancini has made it clear he would be happy for Tevez to stay and he could be back in action as early as this Sunday.
"He will probably be available, although I want to wait until tomorrow (Saturday) to make a decision," Mancini said. "He has worked very well in these two weeks.
"When Carlos plays, he always plays very well and gives 100 per cent. I think maybe he is not 100 per cent fit, but his mind is okay."
