Bayern Munich will not be taking their foot of the gas when they travel to Manchester City, says the club's chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. The German giants are already assured of their place in the last 16 of this season's UEFA Champions League, with a 3-1 victory over Villarreal on Tuesday also seeing them wrap up top spot in Group A. They are now in the enviable position of being able to relax heading into the final round of fixtures. It has been suggested that they will look to take advantage of that situation by fielding a much-changed side at the Etihad Stadium on 7th December. City will be hoping they do just that, with the current Premier League leaders left sweating on their continued involvement in the competition following a 2-1 defeat to Napoli in midweek. They know they must beat Bayern to stand any chance of progressing, but the Bundesliga giants have warned Roberto Mancini's men that they have no intention of rolling over on English soil.

Determined

"We are still going to try and win in Manchester," said Rummenigge. "First of all, there are points for the five-year ranking at stake, and then there are 800,000 euros to the winner. "We are not going to give anything away." Bayern have dropped just two points in Europe so far this season and deserve immense credit for the manner in which they have gone about negotiating what was arguably the toughest group in this season's Champions League. "After winning such a tough group, all you can do is pay a compliment to the team and the coach," added Rummenigge. "The team did what we expected in that they won again."
