Blues coach stresses City are still in pole position and Carling Cup

First-team coach David Platt has laughed off suggestions there is a crisis at Manchester City. After establishing themselves at the top of the Premier League table with a storming start to the season, the Blues have now lost three of their last four games. One of those was in the Premier League - the 1-0 defeat by Sunderland on New Year's Day - which means both neighbours United and Tottenham can draw level before City's game at Wigan on Monday. United also knocked City out of the FA Cup last Sunday before Liverpool beat them 1-0 in the Carling Cup on Wednesday night, meaning the Blues must win the second leg at Anfield to reach the final. Although David Silva may return from a minor ankle injury on Monday, manager Roberto Mancini remains without key players Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure. But Platt is confident City will get results back on track, stressing they are not only in pole position in the Premier League but could still reach Wembley in the Carling Cup. "No-one expected us to continue winning games without having a difficult moment," said the Blues coach.

Turnaround

"We can't accelerate the season by four months to see how it is going to turn out. "But we are still in the Carling Cup semi-final and our players are quite capable of turning the situation around. "And 19 clubs would like to be where we are in the championship. "It is not a bad position to be in - some crisis."
