Sky Sports sources understand that German giants Bayern Munich are planning a summer approach for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko. The Bosnia international has been strongly linked with a move away from the reigning Premier League champions once the transfer window re-opens. Dzeko has struggled to hold down a regular first-team role at the Etihad Stadium and was reported to be a target for Serie A outfit Juventus. He has attempted to play down the rumours, but speculation suggests he could still be on his way out of City. A return to the Bundesliga, where he enjoyed a productive four-year spell with Wolfsburg between 2007 and 2011, is now being touted.

Goalscorer

Bayern are believed to be in the market for a goalscorer after seeing Ivica Olic reach the end of his contract. They already have the prolific Mario Gomez on their books, but are aware of the need to have options in an important area of the field. Dzeko is understood to have fallen under their radar and a big-money bid could be in the pipeline. Were City to offload the 26-year-old forward, they would want to recoup as much of the £27million they paid for his services as possible.
