Kolo Toure knows Manchester City must improve defensively after the Premier League champions conceded four goals in the Capital One Cup loss to Aston Villa

Kolo Toure admits Manchester City must stop giving away "cheap goals" after their Capital One Cup exit at the hands of Aston Villa.

The early exit from the competition also means Toure will miss out on the chance to get more games in the first XI. The former Arsenal defender had made just one start and a substitute appearance prior to Tuesday night, so he was hoping a good cup run would lead to further opportunities for playing time. "It is disappointing to go out," he told CityTV. "For us we don't have a lot of games to play in and this was a chance to have a few games but we've wasted that. "I think it is going to be hard maybe to play now but we will work hard to try to get a chance to play in the Premier League." Meanwhile, City are still awaiting an update on midfielder Jack Rodwell's groin injury after he pulled out of the line-up having been injured in the warm-up.
