FA Cup: Carlos Tevez hat-trick leads Manchester City past Barnsley

Carlos Tevez scored a hat-trick as Manchester City produced a devastating display of attacking football to sweep aside Barnsley 5-0 in their FA Cup quarter-final.

Battered

After the match David Flitcroft admitted that Barnsley had no answer to Manchester City's ruthlessness and singled out Carlos Tevez for his 'explosion and movement'. "If they are the second best team in the country, I wouldn't like to have played Manchester United," Flitcroft said. "They were ruthless. They battered us to a pulp at half-time and then come out in the second half and tried to drill us into the floor." Roberto Mancini also had praise for Tevez but admitted that he was uncertain about the striker's long-term future. Meanwhile, Mancini is already dreaming about an FA Cup final against local rivals Manchester United. It could be perfect because in the last two years United and City have been the best teams in England."
