RAVANELLI CONFIRMS DERBY DEAL IS ON

FABRIZIO RAVANELLI has insisted that his proposed transfer to Derby County will finally go ahead, following the recent twists and turns in the saga.

The Lazio striker's move has been shrouded in confusion but, despite earlier saying that he wanted to stay in Rome, the former Middlesbrough star has now said that the move is back on.

Ravanelli has admitted that there are several problems with the Rome club and their president Massimo Cragnotti, but that he hopes to have these ironed out before sealing a move to Pride Park.

"I have spoken to Massimo and he told me that there are a few problems between myself and Lazio which I hope to resolve," Ravanelli said from Lazio's training camp.

"I am happy to go to Derby and to go back to the English Premiership, especially to this team that is a great entity and has a wonderful manager.

"But it is not a question of whether I want to go or not, I just have to sort my problems with Lazio.

"Lazio want whatever I want so it is my decision but I cannot confirm anything until I talk to the Lazio executives - depending on the outcome I will make a decision."

Ravanelli's comments back-up those of his agent Gianni Paladini, who had earlier insisted that the striker would arrive in the East Midlands soon.
