Middlesbrough have been linked with a move for Dutch striker Ruud ter Heide.
The 27-year-old is currently on loan at FC Emmen in the Dutch second division - but he is in impressive form with 12 goals since the turn of the year.
He is contracted to parent club Cambuur-Leeuwarden until 2011, but he appears unlikely to see out that deal.
Ter Heide does not see eye-to-eye with Cambuur coach Stanley Menzo.
"I hope my future will be decided in the next few weeks," he told
RTV.
"Things are also dependent on the trainer at Cambuur. If he stays, I would rather not go back again.
"It is no secret that we don't like each other."
Now Boro are reported to have been alerted to the striker's possible availability - although SPL side Dundee United are also thought to be keen on the player - who has previously been with FC Twente and Werder Bremen.
