Ex-Bolton boss interested in succeeding Strachan
Gary Megson has confirmed he would be interested in succeeding Gordon Strachan at Middlesbrough.
The Riverside outfit are on the lookout for a new man at the helm after Strachan and Boro parted company on Monday.
Boro were expected to be one of the favourites for promotion from the Championship, but it has been an indifferent campaign so far.
Megson has managed the likes of West Brom, Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Bolton, and believes he has the necessary experience and track record to help revive Boro's fortunes.
The 51-year-old enjoyed success with the Baggies and twice helped the club win promotion to the Premier League, and he thinks he could replicate that at Middlesbrough.
However, Megson knows Boro are a big club and that chairman Steve Gibson will have no shortage of takers when it comes to finding Strachan's successor.
Interest
"I'd be interested in (Middlesbrough)," he told
Sky Sports.
"I think a lot of people would be interested in that. It's a big club.
"They're obviously not doing so well at the moment.
"I've taken a club very similar to that in West Brom, a club that's had a good past and not firing on all cylinders.
"It's a job I would be interested in, but I'm sure a lot of other good managers would be as well."
