Swansea manager does not expect Boro to let Dutchman go

Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he would love to bring Marvin Emnes back to the Liberty Stadium, although he does not expect Middlesbrough to let him leave again. The Dutch winger linked up with the Welsh club for a loan spell earlier in the season after falling out of favour under Gordon Strachan at The Riverside. He shone for the Swans and was interested in staying but the impressive performances had not gone unnoticed by Tony Mowbray, who had replaced Strachan at Boro. Emnes has been more heavily involved with Boro over the past couple of months and is set to line up against Swansea in Saturday's Championship clash between the sides. While Rodgers accepts that Emnes is likely to remain a part of Mowbray's plans for the foreseeable future, he would be keen to have him back in Wales. "It was well documented that I wanted to bring him back here," Rodgers told the South Wales Evening Post.

Welcome

"He has done well for Tony and he is probably one of the players that he's not looking to move on, hence he's stayed there. "I know Marvin loved his time here and if it wasn't going to happen there he was very keen to come back. "If he ever became available further down the line, I'm sure the club and the fans would welcome him back because he is a talent." Rodgers added: "It will be good to see him - as long as he doesn't score. Last summer I don't think he was even in the team photo (at Boro), which is incredible. "He came here and all of a sudden people were talking about him again. That's what this club can do."
