Midfielder reflects on another productive campaign for Fulham

Danny Murphy believes Fulham should be proud of their efforts in 2011/12, with a gruelling campaign ending with them sat ninth in the Premier League standings. A top-half finish is some achievement for a club that saw their season start on 30th June as a result of their entry into the Europa League qualifiers. Martin Jol's men initially found it difficult to juggle the demands of continental and domestic competition, but hit back over the second half of the season to surge into the top 10. As the curtain came down on the campaign, only goal difference separated the Cottagers from Liverpool in eighth spot. Murphy feels Fulham should look back on their efforts with pride, with the capital club having proved once again that they are capable of holding their own among English football's elite. "We've done very well this season, that's the way I'd describe it," he told the club's official website. "Over the last four years we've been in the top 10 three times, and the only year we weren't we were a couple of places below because of the Europa League run.

Consistency

"So to maintain that level of consistency and to continue progressing our style and the way we've played as well has been a really, really great achievement by the lads. "We started the season reasonably slowly I think, for whatever reason - whether it was the amount of games with the Europa League as well - but we don't seem to start seasons particularly well. "We always seem to come good in the second part of the campaign though, and that happened again this season. "Of course there have been some highlights and some low points, like any season. "But overall, especially at home, the level of performance has been really good and the only real area of improvement that we need to make, and we have done for years, like most teams in the Premier League, is our away form. "But even that really, with the amount of points we've picked up on the road, has been okay - it's been more about the level of performance on the road that's not lived up to maybe what we expected it to be."
