Caretaker manager Kit Symons expects to be in charge of Fulham for at least the next three games and is desperate to become the club's new permanent boss.

Symons is one of three managers on a shortlist to succeed Felix Magath compiled by owner Shahid Khan’s five-man “managerial search committee” - which consists of Niall Quinn, Danny Murphy, Brian McBride, Huw Jennings and David Daly.

Speaking ahead of Fulham's home clash with Norwich on Saturday, Symons said: "I'm back, still sitting in this chair, it's business as usual."

When asked if he would be in charge for the next three games, he replied: "I've not been told that for definite either way, but I know it's not going to be a rushed process, which is what I want too.

As much as I desperately want the job, I also desperately want the right person to be in charge of Fulham for the long term.

"As much as I desperately want the job I also desperately want the right person to be in charge of Fulham for the long term. I'm hoping it's me obviously and think it should be me, but this panel and the chairman will make the right decision to take the club forward."

Symons has guided the Cottagers to two wins in four Championship games since stepping up from the coaching staff.

"The owner is very appreciative of the work that's been going on and thanked me for the effort," he added. "It was a very positive conversation as every conversation I've had with him has been. He's an upbeat, positive sort of person so I would expect that.

"It's not been a distraction. I'm fully focused on this run of seven games in 21 days. It's a really busy period, so I'm fully focused on, initially, Norwich, as are the players.

"They've been excellent with their application and attitude in training and they're taking on the information that we're giving them to go on and get a result in the game."
