Wigan defender Titus Bramble may miss the start of next season after undergoing surgery on a foot injury. The 28-year-old centre-half has now had an operation on a stress fracture but faces a summer without being able to play. He admits to playing through the pain barrier until the Latics assured their Premier League status a few weeks ago, but he might be out for three months. "I've had the problem for four or five weeks, and the scans showed it was a stress fracture," he said. "But I was determined to play on and do my bit for the team, and it was just a case of waiting until we were safe to get it sorted. "I can't remember a single incident where it 'went', but obviously the wear and tear over the weeks meant it was gradually getting worse. "I finally had the operation last Thursday, and the surgeon put two pins in to hold it in place. "I've got two weeks of rest now before the hard work begins with the rehab." He added in the Wigan Evening Post: "I've been told it might take up to three months, but hopefully I will be fine for the start of next season." Bramble will be a spectator for the crunch showdown in the title race this weekend as Wigan take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Blues know a win will seal Premier League glory but Manchester United will be hoping Roberto Martinez's men can do them a favour in West London.
