Hamilton are facing a battle to hang on to James McArthur with a number of clubs looking to sign the midfielder.
According to the 22-year-old's agent, Willie McKay, Birmingham, Cardiff, Wigan and Rangers are among the sides in the running for his client's signature. Newly-promoted Leeds United are also understood to be monitoring McArthur's situation.
"There are a few clubs who have made their interest known to Hamilton, and we're seeing what happens next," McKay told the
Wigan Evening Post.
It was earlier claimed that the player was Wigan-bound after a short trial to join former team-mate James McCarthy but wider interest in the Scotland Under 21 international could scupper a move to the DW Stadium.
"James [McArthur] and James [McCarthy] are good friends and that would obviously be a huge attraction of joining Wigan," McKay added.
However, McKay admitted that McArthur "is obviously still a Hamilton player, and we have to wait for them to give us the green light speak to any club that makes them an acceptable offer."
McKay ruled out the prospect of his client undergoing a trial ahead of any transfer and said that McArthur, capped twice for Scotland at Under 21 level, could run down his contract which has one year remaining.
