Sheffield United vs Millwall preview
Friday 12 April 2019 10:28, UK
Promotion-chasing Sheffield United will again check on Jack O'Connell ahead of the Championship match against relegation-battlers Millwall.
The defender suffered a calf injury in the home defeat to Bristol City and has missed the past two matches. Martin Cranie came in for the midweek 1-1 draw at Birmingham and could start again.
Striker Gary Madine returned to action after completing his three-match suspension with half-an-hour off the bench and is pressing for a start.
Millwall will have midfielder Shane Ferguson available again following suspension for the trip to Yorkshire. Ferguson has now served the three-match ban he received for picking up a red card in the FA Cup quarter-final against Brighton, but has also been laid low by illness.
Lions boss Neil Harris named an unchanged starting XI for the midweek 0-0 draw against QPR. Goalkeeper Jordan Archer has been struggling with illness, so David Martin could deputise again. Forward Tom Bradshaw remains unavailable as he continues to recover from a long-term knee injury.
Opta stats
Sheffield United are looking to complete a league double over Millwall for the first time since the 1983-84 season.
Millwall have lost just one of their last six away league matches against Sheffield United (W2 D3 L1), a 0-2 defeat in March 2017 in League One.
Only Pablo Hernandez (103) has created more chances in the Championship than Sheffield United midfielder Oliver Norwood (89).
Millwall haven't kept three consecutive Championship clean sheets since March 2018.
Sheffield United have won seven of their nine home league matches against London teams under Chris Wilder (W7 D1 L1), winning both this season against QPR and Brentford.
Millwall have lost all four of their Championship matches in Yorkshire this season, losing by a single goal each time.
Prutton's prediction
The pendulum has swung again in the race for promotion after Sheffield United were held at Birmingham, and they need to win here to ramp up the pressure.
Millwall are still too close to the relegation zone for their liking, and this is a really tough trip for them. I can't see them getting anything at Bramall Lane.
David Prutton predicts: 2-1 (15/2 with Sky Bet)
