Sheffield United defender Johannes Ertl hopes that his recent performances will earn him a new contract in the summer. The former Austria international has featured in all of the Blades' last three matches, but has managed just eight appearances in total since recovering from a long-term knee injury in November. The 29-year-old's current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, with German outfit 1860 Munich linked with the versatile centre-half, but Ertl told Sky Sports that he is keen to remain at Bramall Lane for the foreseeable future. "Of course, I would love to stay here beyond this season because everybody knows how good a club Sheffield United is, especially with how we are doing this season," he said. "You can sense how well this club is run on a match-day with the fans more than playing their part this year and the way we are playing the game is great as well. "That starts with the manager and his philosophy and I'd love to extend my stay here because the future looks a bright one for this club. "We'll just have to see how things go I guess because the games are going to be coming thick and fast, so contract talks might have to wait for a while."
