Sheffield United have been dealt a second injury blow in as many days as they wait to learn whether winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce will miss the start of the season.

Campbell-Ryce was forced out of the Blades' 4-0 friendly win at Macclesfield before half-time on Wednesday night due to a hamstring injury and is a major doubt for the opening-day game at Gillingham in nine days.

Boss Nigel Adkins, waiting to learn the full extent of Campbell-Ryce's injury, has already seen striker Matty Done ruled out for up to six weeks after he fractured his collarbone in an Under-21s fixture.

Campbell-Ryce, signed by previous Blades manager Nigel Clough last summer from Notts County, finished last season back at Meadow Lane on loan but had featured prominently for Adkins during pre-season.
