Kiely voted top Addick

DEAN KIELY took top honours as planetfootball's Charlton Athletic Player of the Year, with The Addicks goalkeeper closely chased by striker Jason Euell in the voting by our readers.

The Republic of Ireland international custodian may face being number two behind Newcastle's Shay Given at this summer's World Cup finals but he has been a major factor behind another solid season for Alan Curbishley's side in the Premiership.

Kiely took 1083 votes from our readers and was a shave ahead of former Wimbledon hitman Euell, who had 1067 votes in second place.

The figures dramatically dropped off when third placed Scott Parker took a minimal 291 votes, with on-loan Portuguese defender Jorge Costa four votes behind with 287.

England Under-21 defender Paul Konchesky was fifth with 164 votes while South African international defender Mark Fish took sixth position with 133 votes.

Despite being bottom of our Charlton list, Fish is likely to make his second appearance in the World Cup finals with Bafana Bafana.

3,025 votes were cast in total.

Result:
1.Kiely, 2.Euell, 3.Parker, 4.Costa, 5.Konchesky, 6.Fish.
