Striker seals switch from Swindon to Addicks
Leon Clarke is relishing getting started with Charlton after securing his move from Swindon Town.
The former Queens Park Rangers striker has signed an 18-month deal at the Valley after arriving at the League One leaders as part of a swap deal with Paul Benson going the opposite way.
Clarke was always set to leave Swindon in the January transfer window after a bust-up with Di Canio in the early weeks of the campaign.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Chesterfield earlier in the season, scoring nine goals in 16 appearances in all competitions for the Spireites.
A number of clubs were chasing Clarke's signature, but Chris Powell managed to lure the powerful forward to the Valley.
Clarke is now looking forward to a new challenge after an unhappy spell at Swindon.
"I am happy to have joined a club like Charlton," Clarke told
skysports.com.
"I can't wait to get started as I have not been able to play for a couple of weeks after the end of my loan at Chesterfield.
"I would like to thank the Swindon board and my agent for helping sort out the move and I am determined to do my best for Charlton now."
