Watford forward M’Baye Niang did his piece for nature, saving a bird caught in the midst of their mauling to Manchester City

Watford forward M'Baye Niang did his piece for nature by saving a bird caught in the midst of their mauling to Manchester City.

The Hornets were put to the sword in the first half of their final game of the season as Champions League chasing City scored four unanswered goals.

The season finale was also manager Walter Mazzarri's final game in charge of the club, but the injury-plagued hosts failed to end with a flourish as defeat saw them finish the campaign one place above the relegation zone.

Having chased shadows against Pep Guardiola's superior team, the Watford squad would have been forgiven for losing their cool on a humiliating afternoon in front of their own fans.

However, the compassionate side of Niang was on show for all to see as he came to the rescue of a bird that entered the field of play.
